The Institutional View - Andrew Addison

Andrew L. Addison

Andy was Director of Technical Analysis/Co-Director of Research for Fidelity’s institutional asset management division (Pyramis Global Advisors with $140 billion under management) for seven years from 2006 until October 2013. He spearheaded the Technical Analysis research for domestic and global Portfolio Managers with a variety of long-only, long/short, and asset allocation mandates. This included pinpointing the most attractive and least attractive stocks and sectors within each Fund Manager’s specific investment mandate. His monthly “Tech Talks” to the entire global team focused on the most important global trends across asset classes and equity sectors and industries; and targeted specific stock recommendations to capitalize on these trends.

Prior to being Co-Director of Research at Pyramis, he was a Senior Technical Analyst at Fidelity Management & Research from 2003-2006. While there he worked with all of the domestic and Team Canada Fund Managers, providing Technical Analysis of all stocks within the Financial and Healthcare sectors.

Before joining Fidelity in 2003, Andy was Principal of Addison Investment for 23 years – from 1980-2003. He was Publisher and Editor of “INSTITUTIONAL VIEW” – a Technical & Socio-Economic/Global Macro research service for Fund Managers (1985-2003). Research focused on stock, bond, and commodities markets – with specific strategies recommended. In 1980 he began a retail advisory letter “THE ADDISON REPORT.”

Prior to launching his advisory business, Andy was an Investment Officer for one of the largest banks in Boston (Shawmut Bank of Boston) from 1976-1980. While there he managed Municipal Dollar Bond & Treasury Bill trading accounts for the Bank.

Andy has a B.A. in English from Amherst College, and did graduate work at Babson College in the MBA program, and at New England School of Law.
